A Journey of Resilience

  • Born in Vietnam, Alice and her family were among the first boat-refugees to arrive in Australia’s Northern Territory in the late ’70s.

  • Settling in Adelaide, she learned patience and how to read people while waiting tables in her parents’ Chinese restaurant.

  • High school was isolating, but a kind teacher saw her potential and she found her footing in chemistry. Later, she found the courage to chase opportunity in Sydney, leaving behind everything familiar. So, when she talks about resilience, it’s not a concept—it’s lived experience.

From Pharma to Purpose

  • After building a successful pharmaceutical-marketing career, and juggling life as a full-time mum of two, Alice felt a pull toward something more meaningful.

  • She first gained her counselling qualification at AIPC and found her joy in working with young people through mentoring at RAISE and supporting parents when she became a certified Tuning into Teens facilitator.

  • She completed a Master of Social Work, earned her accreditation as a Mental Health Social Worker, and spent a decade counselling young people and families from diverse background, since 2015.

  • For six years she led the clinical team at KYDS Youth Counselling Inc., a charity offering free youth mental health services in the community.

Why Young People and Parents Trust Alice

  • Culturally responsive: speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and English.

  • Kind, compassionate and deeply respectful, no judgement, just listening.

  • Social-work trained: helps you see both the small picture and the whole story.

  • Collaborative problem-solver: you unpack challenges at your own pace and co-create strategies for lasting wellbeing.

  • Now, having a close relationship with her four siblings and juggling the care of her elderly parents, she knows the complexity of family relationships.
